Gabby Agbonlahor and Alan Brazil rage at Premier League FFP development in new Everton verdict

Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor have been left in a rage live on air over the latest news surrounding Everton and Nottingham Forest’s potential financial fair play breaches.

Reports emerged on Tuesday [The Times, 2 January] that there are concerns that Nottingham Forest could be charged for breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, while Everton could be risking a second charge.

But both Brazil and Agbonlahor have urged the Premier League to hurry up and charge teams that have broken their rules, as they offered a sympathetic verdict to the Toffees as they remain the only team punished.

Everton

Speaking on talkSPORT (3 January, 7:51) Brazil said: “By the way, Everton have been done but they’ve got to move things along quicker with the other sides. I’m not picking on City, I’m not picking on anyone, I think they’ve just got to get on with it. Stop talking about it.

Agbonlahor was quick to agree saying: “Whoever has done it, needs to be punished because look how quickly Everton were punished.”

Brazil responded: “Absolutely and they held their hands up.”

One rule for them

The Premier League and the independent commission were incredibly quick to ensure that Everton were punished for their breaches of financial fair play and even hit the Toffees with an incredibly harsh 10-point deduction.

That single breach saw Everton hit with the Premier League’s most severe point deduction ever, and has led to an appeal from the club and any reduction in punishment would be welcome given they sit just a point above 18th-place Luton Town.

Everton

Fortunately, at the moment it seems that Dyche’s side has enough quality to be able to dodge the drop to the Championship even with their point deduction. However, it has lit a fire underneath the Toffees to ensure that they aren’t able to sit comfortably.

Hopefully, the other sides who have reportedly breached the Premier League’s rules will be punished accordingly with the same severity as Everton, otherwise, eyebrows will be raised all around Goodison Park.
