Arsenal transfer news as intensive talks now ongoing in January transfer move for Everton star Amadou Onana

Intensive talks are ongoing between Everton and Arsenal over the sale of Amadou Onana, with the player keen on a move to North London, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian journalist reported via his Twitter account that Onana’s priority is to remain in the Premier League, and this deal for a move to Arsenal could develop quickly.

With talks having begun between the two sides, Arsenal appear to have taken a step in front of their rivals in their pursuit of the Everton star after Manchester United were also linked with a deal.

This deal could get over the line

With talks now intensifying between the two clubs, and Onana said to be keen on a move to Arsenal, this deal feels like one that could be completed in the coming weeks despite Everton’s reluctance to sell their star player halfway through the season.

Everton will reportedly ask for around £60million for the Beglian’s signature, in which case they would be receiving a sizeable fee for a key asset which would allow them to reinvest in their squad.

The January transfer window was expected to be a quiet one at Goodison Park, but should Onana leave the club, Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell should be busy in the transfer market to reinforce their squad in the battle against Premier League relegation this season.

This type of deal could easily derail their season. While he has been inconsistent at Goodison Park this season, Onana remains a key player under Dyche, and if the money is not reinvested properly he could prove to be a big miss.
