Everton takeover news: £39m-plus 777 Partners money not for January transfer window – David Ornstein
Everton have received a new cash injection worth $50million [£39.4m] from prospective future owners 777 Partners, according to The Athletic.
David Ornstein reports via their outlet’s website that the American firm is still awaiting approval from the Premier League for their purchase of Farhad Moshiri’s shares to go ahead, but the latest money will take their commitment to over $180m so far [£142m] following a “sizeable” loan in September.
However, despite the timing of the latest move the new money will not be available for use in the January transfer window but instead for the ongoing construction of the new stadium and the monthly running costs of the club.

The financial situation at Goodison Park is still considered “perilous” in the wake of the 10-point deduction imposed on the club, which is to be appealed.
Commitment
Much as Sean Dyche would surely love to feel the benefit of that cash in the transfer market Everton have bigger priorities off the pitch.
While the latest money would appear to signify that 777 Partners remain committed to the takeover process despite delays taking it into the new year it does increase the club’s debt yet further.
A month ago it was reported that the Josh Wander-fronted company weren’t willing to continue to fund the club past January if their ownership was still not confirmed at that point, so whether this injection represents a final push before the tap is turned off remains to be seen.

777 have already been given approval by the Financial Conduct Authority, but the crucial approval from the Premier League is still proving illusive.
As the club continues to accumulate obligations at a startling rate it appears to be a matter of needs-must, but where it will leave them if the league authorities don’t give the green light to this deal will remain a concern unless or until it goes through.
And even then the matter of whether 777 will be the right owners for Everton is something that has been called into question repeatedly over recent months.
In other Everton news, a Premier League club has entered talks over a Goodison Park player who their manager couldn’t afford in the summer and had to settle for an alternative.
