Real Madrid transfer news as Jarrad Branthwaite update emerges at Everton

Real Madrid are interested in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite over the summer transfer window, according to Simon Jones.

The Daily Mail journalist, writing in his Transfer Confidential column (8 January) shared that Manchester United and Tottenham are keeping tabs but it is Madrid’s interest that will excite the young English defender.

Branthwaite is no stranger to Real boss Carlo Ancelotti of course as the Italian gave him his first team debut while coach at Everton and he has often received further messages of encouragement from Carlo’s assistant and son, Davide regarding his progress at Goodison Park.

Real Madrid will be on the market for a centre-back this summer following long-term injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba and have identified Branthwaite as an ideal target for the summer, having received glowing reports from scouts.

Demand big bucks

The way Branthwaite has been performing so far this campaign, the interest from the elite clubs on the continent was always on the cards.

The young Englishman has been absolutely incredibly at the heart of the defence alongside James Tarkowski all season long taking to the rigours of Premier League football like a duck to water.

It’s no wonder why clubs across the country have been on the prowl for his signature but now that Real Madrid have entered the fray now makes his exit this summer all the more likely.

Ancelotti is desperate for a young burgeoning centre-back having signed a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu recently so will already be planning ahead for the summer window.

Branthwaite is an exceptional option for Real Madrid but is also an exceptional asset for Everton. If there was one club the Toffees would prefer to sell to though, it would be Madrid as they won’t have to face him should he move to England.

But more crucially, given the club’s financial situation and their current building of the new Stadium development at Bramley-Moore Dock, Everton are well within their right to demand upwards of £70m-£75m.

That should be the starting price range should Madrid officially make their move.

In other Everton news, David Ornstein has shared whether a new £39million-plus development at Goodison will benefit Dyche in the January transfer window.
