Sean Dyche wants Scott McTominay in ‘major’ Everton and Manchester United transfer update amid Amadou Onana talks
Scott McTominay is a “major transfer target” for Sean Dyche at Everton in January as he looks for proven Premier League options to contribute immediately, according to Football Transfers.
The outlet claims via their website on 8 January that sources believe a deal that sends the Scotland international to Goodison Park while Toffees star Amadou Onana moves in the opposite direction could “benefit all parties”.
Both sides are said to be “hamstrung” by financial fair play concerns but a double deal would reportedly give each “room for manoeuvre”.

As well as McTominay and Onana there is already a move between the two clubs potentially on the cards this month as Everton attempt to bring in attacking midfielder Hannibal Mejbri on loan.
Downgrade or strong consolation?
If a double-deal was done it would surely entail Manchester United sending significant cash to the Toffees along with McTominay, with Onana’s asking price believed to be £60million.
Erik ten Hag’s side valued their man at over £40m during the summer when West Ham tried to sign him [The Athletic, 8 August], but he currently has just 18-months left on his contract at Old Trafford, although there is an option for a further year [Sky Sports].
Dyche would no doubt prefer to have Onana and McTominay in his squad, as well as Mejbri, but the finances at the club probably make that impossible.

The Belgian Toffees midfielder continues to be linked to giants in England and Europe for the third transfer window running, and having shunned interest previously there must remain some hope that he might do so again.
Perhaps if the 22-year-old did have to leave then McTominay would be a solid, if unspectacular, replacement should he arrive along with some good money.
He is five years older and surely has a lower ceiling, but stars for Scotland and does have the look of a player that might thrive under Dyche, although keeping hold of Onana would still potentially be the priority.
In other Everton news, David Ornstein has shared whether a new £39million-plus development at Goodison will benefit Dyche in the January transfer window.
