Everton open to offers for Amadou Onana in January as Arsenal stance shared
Arsenal are yet to open talks with Everton over midfielder Amadou Onana for a transfer this month, but the Toffees are open to offers according to The Mirror.
Writing on their website (9 January), the news outlet report that the Gunners are interested in the Belgium midfielder but have not held talks over a transfer yet as they battle with their own FFP restrictions.
But the Toffees are open to offers to help ease their financial issues with Chelsea also interested, but no talks have been held yet about a move this month.

“Arsenal are yet to open talks with Everton over a potential deal for Amadou Onana,” they wrote.
“While the 22-year-old midfield powerhouse is a player that has been tracked by the Gunners, there has been no active movement regarding a January transfer at this moment in time.
“Reports in Belgium have been peddling that discussions are now underway between the two clubs but Mirror Football understands that is not the case.
“Everton are thought to be open to offers for the former Lille midfielder as a sale would help alleviate the club’s financial strains following their 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
“Chelsea are also admirers of Onana, who joined Everton in a £33.5m deal in August 2022.”
Oh
It seemed unthinkable that Everton could look to move on a first-team star this month because of the precarious position that the club is in right now.
Sean Dyche’s side is only just outside the relegation zone following the ten-point deduction passed down by the Premier League and the squad is hardly deep when it comes to real quality options.

Central midfield is an area where the squad is especially weak and with Idrissa Gueye away at AFCON this month that only adds to the issues.
But financially the club is in an absolutely dire state and if Arsenal, or anyone else, were to come forward with a big bid then it’s no surprise that the club would have to consider it.
Hopefully that doesn’t happen and all the thinking about a potential transfer is for nothing, because there is no doubt the team has a far better chance of avoiding relegation with Onana in it.
