New Manchester United Hannibal Mejbri demand emerges amid January transfer interest from Everton
Manchester United will demand a loan fee from any club that takes Hannibal Mejbri on loan amid interest from Everton, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (10 January) that the United midfielder would prefer a move to Sevilla during the January transfer window, rather than Goodison Park, with talks continuing with the Spanish giants.
However, the Red Devils will expect both Sevilla and Everton to pay them a loan fee to take the 20-year-old away from Old Trafford for the second half of the season, despite his bit-part role in Erik ten Hag’s side so far this season.

No matter the destination, any potential deal is not expected to include a buy clash and Fabrizio Romano has already suggested that Manchester United expect either side to cover the entirety of the Tunisian midfielder’s salary during his temporary spell [Give Me Sport, 8 January].
Expensive deal
With all potential clauses and fees included, this deal is shaping up to be a rather expensive one to complete and that could really harm Everton’s chances of getting a deal over the line ahead of Sevilla.
The Toffees aren’t exactly blessed with funds for this transfer window and the expectation has been that Sean Dyche will be forced to work with what he already has at Goodison Park between now and the end of the season.
A cheap loan deal for a young Premier League star seemed like the perfect solution to add some quality to the Toffees’ side without breaking the bank, but this deal has ultimately turned out to be anything but cheap.

While Mejbri’s wages are unlikely to be massive, considering his age and lack of experience, he won’t be on peanuts at Old Trafford. Partner that with a potentially expensive loan fee and this becomes an expensive deal for what is ultimately less than six months of service.
Everton may be disappointed to have fallen behind in the race for the United midfielder’s signature, but ultimately this could prove to be a financial blessing in disguise for the Toffees.
