Everton stance on termination of Arnaut Danjuma loan detailed as transfer twist emerges from Goodison Park

Everton “still hold the power” with regards to whether Arnaut Danjuma remains at Goodison Park, according to The Mirror.

The publication reported on its online edition on Thursday (11 January) that the Netherlands international is seeking assurances over playing time.

Danjuma’s agent confirmed this week that the Dutch winger is considering quitting Goodison Park, with Lyon interested in signing him [talkSPORT].

The Mirror report read: “Sources have disclosed that Everton still hold the power but if they fail to present a plan to the forward about improving his playing time, he will look to leave Goodison Park before the transfer window closes.

“If the Toffees intend to use Danjuma more frequently, he will be staying at the club until the end of the season.”

Understandable

This is a tricky one because, while Danjuma has not exactly been a regular starter for Everton, Sean Dyche still uses him a lot from the bench.

If the Dutchman moves on this month, the Toffees will surely have to bring in another attacker before the transfer window closes.

That is much easier said than done in January, so the best option is to keep hold of Danjuma for the second half of the campaign.

It is entirely understandable that Danjuma is angling towards an exit because he simply wants to be starting games regularly.

The comments made by his agent earlier this week were hardly controversial – it was just a case of telling it as it is.

Ultimately, Dyche cannot give Danjuma assurances that he will start more regularly between now and the end of the campaign.

If that means the 26-year-old departs then so be it, because Everton cannot afford to have an unsettled player in the squad.
