Abdoulaye Doucoure nowhere to be seen in training pictures as Everton fitness update shared

Abdoulaye Doucoure was nowhere to be seen in the latest pictures of Everton players training ahead of their game against Aston Villa on Sunday (14 January), according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper reported on its website on Thursday (11 January) how the Mali international was absent in the images taken from Finch Farm on Wednesday (10 January) after he’s been suffering from a hamstring injury.

But it noted that the 31-year-old midfielder did reportedly train as he builds towards a comeback ahead of the clash against Villa at Goodison Park.

Positive

It’s positive news to hear that Doucoure has been back involved with training after he’s been out for the best part of the past month with a hamstring problem.

It’s notable that Everton haven’t won any of their five games since the midfielder was forced off in the 2-0 victory over Burnley on 16 December.

They have since lost all three of their Premier League matches, drew with Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and been dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Fulham.

The injury came just at the wrong time for the Mali international after he had scored in both matches before picking up the problem, having forged a successful partnership playing in behind forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Sean Dyche will no doubt be looking forward to getting him back on the field, but he will be cautious not to rush him due to his importance to the side.
