Everton to accept head-spinning bid as Newcastle United fancy signing Amadou Onana in January transfer
Everton would accept a head-spinning bid for Amadou Onana during the transfer window amid interest from Newcastle United, according to i News.
The newspaper reported on its website on Thursday (11 January) that Eddie Howe’s side are known admirers of the Belgian international and would be interested in signing him should a deal become possible.
Arsenal are also interested in the Toffees star this season, but their spending has been limited by financial fair play restrictions at the Emirates, with those close to the Gunners suggesting that they will have to sell players before signing them this month.

These restrictions mean that Onana is much more likely to depart Everton during the summer transfer window at the end of the season, but a big offer that meets the Toffees demands in January could force them into selling.
Asking price set
While much of Everton’s incoming transfer business in the last few seasons can be fairly criticised, the Toffees have gone about their outgoing business incredibly well over the course of the last couple of windows.
The poor financial position at Goodison Park could well have seen the Toffees sell all of their valuable assets at cut prices in a bid to keep their heads above the water, but instead, Everton have set their asking prices high and forced buying clubs to match them.
Everton want to receive the price that they deem their players to be worth and that is an incredibly sensible approach to take. It worked when they sold Anthony Gordon last season and the same could well be true with Onana either this January or in the summer.

Whether Newcastle will cough up the money required to seal the Belgian’s services like they did Gordan a year ago remains to be seen, but the Toffees have ensured that they are the team in the position of power during this transfer deal.
Hopefully, nobody will reach Everton’s asking price before the end of February and Sean Dyche will be able to count upon the midfielder at least until the end of the season.
