Journalist tells Jim White what he’s heard about Everton interest in Che Adams as Southampton asking price revealed
Everton have reignited their interest in signing Southampton forward Che Adams in the January transfer window, according to Alex Crook.
Speaking to host Jim White on talkSPORT on Friday (12 January, 11:55am), the journalist revealed that the Toffees were mentioned to him as “potential suitors” to sign the Scotland international a couple of days ago.
He said the Saints are in a “vulnerable” situation as the 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, adding that the Championship club are looking for a fee in the region of £6million to allow him to leave this month.

“What are Southampton up to with their player Che Adams?” asked White.
“Well, he’s got six months left on his contract, so that obviously makes the selling club vulnerable,” said Crook. “At the moment, there has not been any sign that he will sign a new deal.
“There is some Premier League interest in Che Adams. Wolves, Crystal Palace and even Everton were mentioned to me as potential suitors a couple of days ago. They’ve been in for him in the past. The figure I’m told it would take to get him out of St Mary’s is £6million.”
Unlikely
It would be a slightly surprising move if Everton were to go back in for Adams after missing out on a deal to bring him to Goodison Park over the summer.
That’s because they signed Portuguese forward Beto after failing to land Adams, with Sean Dyche likely to spend any available cash on strengthening other areas of his squad.
There are question marks over whether he will be handed any money, though, due to the Toffees’ difficult financial situation, meaning exits are more likely this month.

The Blues boss is probably currently scouring the loan market for potential additions and it’s extremely unlikely Southampton would sanction a move of that nature for the Scotsman given his contract situation.
Even if they could find the money to sign the forward, it might not be a worthwhile investment anyway after he’s only scored six goals in 22 Championship appearances this season.
