Sean Dyche shares new Everton January transfer admission as ‘control’ verdict emerges at Goodison

Sean Dyche has admitted that Everton do not intend on losing any first-team players during the January transfer window, suggesting the situation at Goodison Park is under the Toffees’ control.

The Toffees currently sit 17th in the Premier League, level on points with Luton Town in the relegation zone after 20 games and as they attempt to avoid the drop, Dyche is also keen to avoid a repeat of Alex Iwobi’s late exit in the summer transfer window.

Iwobi, a regular on Merseyside, left the Toffees on deadline day in the summer as Everton looked to generate some much-needed funds, but the Blues boss has suggested that they will not be under the same pressure to sell this month.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (13 January) he said: “There will be no one at this stage that we are thinking of letting go. That’s recognised first-team players let me be clear, some of the kids are different with loans.

“We’re not wanting to do that. With shifting sands in the market, you never know but it’s all under our control and certainly at this stage we want everyone in the house.”

Keep what you have

The disruption to the Everton squad at the end of the summer transfer window certainly appeared to have a negative impact on the Toffees at the start of the season. Dyche’s team started the campaign slowly and seemed to take time to get back up to speed.

Everton appear to have set out their stall early this month that they don’t want to lose any first-team players before the start of February, a big statement considering the swirling rumours about a number of players futures at Goodison Park.

The most important thing for supporters is Dyche’s admission that outgoings are under the Toffees’ control. They are not in a position where they have to sell players just to remain financially afloat and that is a huge boost.

Hopefully, Dyche will be able to avoid a repeat of the Iwobi transfer that surprised most supporters at the end of the summer transfer window and he will find a way to keep all of his Everton squad in place for a little longer yet.
