Everton appeal update shared by Mike Keegan, new points deduction on the cards at Goodison Park

Everton intend to appeal their latest alleged breach of Premier League spending rules, according to journalist Mike Keegan.

The Premier League confirmed on Monday that Everton and Nottingham Forest are facing possible points deductions.

It is alleged that the Toffees, who have already been docked 10 points this season, breached the Profit and Sustainability Rules with their latest financial accounts.

However Daily Mail writer Keegan posted on his personal Twitter page [15 January]: “Told Everton will appeal latest alleged breach of Premier League financial rules.”

Here we go again

Everton done brilliantly to effectively wipe out the previous 10-point deduction passed down to them, but now there is a real threat of further punishment.

The Toffees have already appealed that points deduction – a Premier League record – and we await to hear if we have been successful with that.

There now looks as though there will be a second appeal, making this a rather complicated matter.

It means more weeks and months of fallout with regards to the financial situation, while supporters are simply left in limbo.

All that players can do is get more points on the board and hope that is enough, regardless of any possible future deductions.

This really has been a season like no other for Everton – which is saying something – and supporters must now rally like they did before.

Everton chiefs will fight the appeals off the pitch, but let’s hope the players can overcome this latest hurdle regardless and keep us in the division.
