Manchester United transfer news as update emerges on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite
Tottenham target Jean Clair Todibo and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite are the two names on Manchester United’s shortlist in January.
According to the Evening Standard (15 January), many clubs are targeting the defensive duo in the Premier League while the Mirror claim they’re the two top centre-back targets for the Red Devils.
The Standard reported back in December that Todibo was also wanted by Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.

Mirror wrote in their blog on 15 January at 12:40 pm: “It seems the two names on the centre-half shortlist are Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Nice’s Jean Clair Todibo.
“Nice is also owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, which could aid a deal for Todibo, who is not short of admirers.
“Branthwaite has been highly though of by teams in the Premier League for several years.”
Tough times?
Everton must maintain a steadfast stance on Branthwaite amidst Manchester United’s interest and their increased spending potential due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent 25% ownership takeover.
Branthwaite, a promising young centre-back, is highly regarded by teams in the Premier League and his potential departure should only occur on the Toffees’ terms.
Given the financial backing from the new ownership, Everton can afford to hold out for a valuation that accurately reflects Branthwaite’s talent, potential and market demand.

The club should not succumb to pressure or rush into a deal below their perceived value for the 21-year-old.
Moreover, with Branthwaite being a homegrown talent and having garnered attention for several years, his departure should only happen if Everton receive a substantial fee that aligns with his market value.
The Merseyside outfit must emphasise their commitment to nurturing and protecting their assets, ensuring that any potential deal involving Branthwaite benefits the club’s long-term vision and financial interests.
In other Everton news, a Toffees-linked player is now in advanced talks to secure a move to Sheffield United in the January transfer window.
