Everton transfer news: Lyon continue negotiations to sign Arnaut Danjuma in January after £25.7m development
Lyon are continuing to negotiate with Everton about signing Arnaut Danjuma this month despite completing £25.7m worth of attacking signings, according to L’Equipe.
Writing on their website (17 January), the French news outlet report that the Ligue 1 club are set to complete the signings of forwards Gift Orban and Malick Fofana to bolster their squad.
But the club are continuing negotiations to sign Dutch winger Danjuma after agreeing terms with him earlier in the window, although Sean Dyche doesn’t want to cut his loan short.

“In this sector of play, OL is continuing its negotiations for Arnaut Danjuma (Everton) and Saïd Benrahma (West Ham), two more complex files which are slow to progress,” they wrote.
Shock
It’s a bit of a surprise that this is still a thing after Sean Dyche made it abundantly clear that Everton are planning to have Danjuma in the squad for the second half of the season.
He has found it hard to come by minutes in the first half of the season but he has played more recently and with Dwight McNeil out with an ankle injury this is his chance to stamp his authority on the team.
Lyon have now signed two young forwards who they will be hoping can boost them up the table, but they will also both be expecting regular game time and bringing in Danjuma also would surely mean that they want to use him.

That would seem counterproductive, and the solution that seems to suit all parties most is that Danjuma stays at Goodison Park for the rest of the season as was always planned.
Unless the Toffees can find a replacement for him then there is no benefit to letting him go now, so it seems like a waste of time for Lyon.
In other Everton news, asking price emerges as Toffees want to sign long-term target this month.
