777 Partners twist put Everton player talks on hold at Goodison Park – Matt Hughes

Hopes of finalising new contracts for several key players at Everton including Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been put on hold after the 777 Partners takeover delays, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper shared via its website on 18 January that Ben Godfrey and other first-team stars have also seen contract talks delayed as a result of the ongoing talks.

There are five players alongside that duo who are set to see their contracts expire in the next 18 months, putting them at risk of exits, with a squad overhaul now on the cards.

Causing more issues than they’re solving

Despite the desperation at Everton for the takeover to be completed, which will also be matched by 777, the constant delays and fresh concerns emerging during the talks seem to be causing more issues for Everton than they can solve as things stand.

Of course, it is 777 who are keeping the lights on at Finch Farm as things stand, pumping money into the club through loans to help with running costs, but the longer this takeover drags on, the more uncertainty emerges within the clubs and the fanbase.

However, with the ongoing delays and the constant flow of concerns, with the latest that ex-Newcastle star Isaac Hayden was not receiving wages at 777-owned Standard Liege, it seems like the reasons to worry about this takeover are endless.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters revealed in parliament that 777 had failed to provide answers to questions which has been causing the delays, so perhaps the concerns surrounding the group are fair.
