Everton stance on Arnaut Danjuma exit emerges after fresh Fabrizio Romano transfer update at Goodison Park

Everton want to keep on-loan attacker Arnaut Danjuma on loan for the rest of the season, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The publication reported on its website on Thursday (18 January) that the forward remains part of Sean Dyche’s plans.

That stance comes amid a transfer update from Fabrizio Romano, with the journalist reporting on X on Thursday that Lyon are pushing to sign Danjuma this month, with talks ongoing for the player, who is keen on the move.

Messy

The situation involving Danjuma does seem a bit messy, although Everton were perhaps expecting such issues given the player’s history.

The attacker seemingly came close to a move to Goodison Park last January, only for Premier League rivals Tottenham to secure his services temporarily.

Everton then got their man on a season-long loan from Villarreal in the summer, but that could all come crashing down if Lyon get their way.

Danjuma has hardly been a crucial player for Dyche this season, with the 26-year-old having played just over 800 minutes so far.

And while he hasn’t exactly been given a lot of time to impress, the winger has failed to light up Goodison Park when given the opportunity, scoring just two goals from his 18 appearances in all competitions.

It is certainly not a good look for the Toffees that one of their loan players already wants a way out in January, and given how there is still plenty of time left in the transfer window, an exit cannot be ruled out.
