Ex-Everton Scout shares ‘awful lot of money’ verdict after new FFP charge

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes the latest Premier League charge handed to Everton has been the result of many poor decisions at the club.

As per BBC Sport (15 January), the Toffees have been charged for alleged breaches of the competition’s profit and sustainability rules.

Fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest have also been charged, with clubs that breach such rules at risk of a fine or a points deduction.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “What can one say? There seems to have been financial problems ever since Bill Kenwright sold 95% of the club to Farhad Moshiri.

“Moshiri has had advisors on bringing players in, and those selections have been poor, performances have been poor, and money has been poorly spent.

“I don’t know the ins and outs of these financial deals that have been done, but there seems to have been an awful lot of money spent on players, and not a great deal of money coming in.

“I think they did well with the Richarlison sale, to get what they did, I wouldn’t have paid how much Tottenham paid for him.”

The Toffees have, of course, already paid the price of falling foul of the Premier League’s financial rules this season.
Earlier in the campaign, the Merseyside outfit were handed a 10-point deduction, firing the club towards the relegation zone.

And after an immediate revival, Sean Dyche’s side find themselves back in dangerous territory after a poor run of form.

In other Everton news, Alan Stubbs has made a new Toffees prediction live on BBC after what he saw at Goodison Park recently.
