Date set in Everton appeal against 10-point Premier League deduction
The appeal hearing that Everton hope will see their 10-point deduction reduced is set to begin this month, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Everton were hit with the record points punishment in November after being found guilty of breaching the competition’s financial rules.
The Toffees, who are facing the prospect of a second deduction in a separate case, announced soon after that they would lodge a formal appeal.
In an article for the Liverpool Echo’s online edition [21 January], Joe Thomas reported that a date for that hearing has been set.
“Everton hope to make progress against the deduction during an appeal hearing that is expected to start this month,” he wrote.

Everton are in for a rather hectic time of things both on and off the field over the next four months.
On top of this appeal against the severity of the 10-point deduction, they will also lodge another appeal after being charged with more financial breaches this week.
It is a rather farcical situation in that the process of every club submitting their financial accounts for the most recent year had to be lodged earlier than ever.
This was so that any deductions could kick in this season, yet the appeals process is not expected to conclude until a week after the campaign ends.
At the very least, Everton should know whether this 10-point deduction – or any of it – still stands within the coming weeks.

Then focus will turn to the other charge, although it is not yet known if it will be a points punishment Everton face, a financial one or both.
All the while, the fixtures will be coming thick and fast between now and the end of the season.
All the players can do is ensure we have enough points on the board as possible so that any further punishments do not matter all that much.
In other Everton news, a Toffees player is reportedly wanted by Manchester United as part of a major overhaul at Old Trafford.
