Everton injury news: Doctor shares update on Stanley Mills

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton winger Stanley Mills is unlikely to return to training before the end of the season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he has suffered ligament damage to his knee and that the 20-year-old will be out for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old, who was on loan at Oxford, picked up the injury in an FA Cup clash against Coventry at the start of the month and the Toffees confirmed on 8 January that the young winger had returned to Goodison Park for treatment.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Mills:

Difficult to say what the exact nature of the injury is without video but he has had some ligament damage to the knee and his recovery will be longer rather than shorter.

Based on some of the manager’s comments, doesn’t sound like he will be in training before the season and will need to use the summer to continue rehabbing and ramping up.

The primary focus now will be to ensure that he’s getting the best treatment so a return to Everton makes sense.

The 20-year-old made 21 appearances in League One this season, providing seven assists and scoring a goal.

He’s also made two senior bows for Everton, with his debut coming in August 2022 in a 1-0 victory over Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup.
