Everton shareholder blasts tweet about Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool news emerges – ‘Are you mad?’
Everton shareholder Mike Parry was baffled by one tweet blasting Jurgen Klopp after he revealed he would step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season.
Klopp shocked the football world by announcing his resignation as Anfield boss after nine years on Friday, leaving as one of the best coaches in the club’s history.
But some fans online opted to try and bash his legacy and responding to one tweet he saw, Parry responded on his personal account (26 January) angrily at the suggestion Klopp may have been a flop.
“Are you mad?” he wrote. “He won Liverpool their first Premier League title. He won them the Champions League (and 2 other losing finals).
“He kept them relevant at the top of English football against the mighty spending power of Man City and United. He’s a winner.”
Mental
Nobody at Everton needs to pretend to like Klopp or even be a fan of his, but you can’t deny the incredible job he has done at the club since turning up and replacing Brendan Rodgers.
The man won plenty of trophies, reached plenty of cup finals but also transformed the club from their banter era into being a force in world football once again.
We don’t have to pretend that he isn’t good or wasn’t great, but we can be delighted that he’s left and hope that his exit will mean that they stop being so good and that we can potentially find a way to start building to compete again.
Parry is a huge Toffee but all fans of football will know about Klopp’s legacy and anyone saying differently is simply just doing it for attention instead being genuine and giving real opinions.
Klopp’s a football and Liverpool legend, but Everton fans still don’t like him and don’t have to.
