Sean Dyche dodges Everton transfer bullet as Hannibal Mejbri news emerges at Sevilla

Everton manager Sean Dyche has a hugely difficult task ahead of him, with the Toffees in real danger of dropping down to the Championship.

The Merseyside outfit currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the bottom three, with another points deduction on the cards.

The man in the dugout may just try and improve his club’s chances of staying up by bringing one or two new faces in this month.

One player that was being targeted by the Toffees was Manchester United man Hannibal Mejbri, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on X on January 11 that Everton were interested in a loan deal for the 21-year-old.

But the journalist explained that Sevilla were also pushing for the youngster, with the Spanish club confirming his loan signature not long after.

In a blow to the Toffees, the La Liga outfit beat them to a deal for the attacker this month, but it seems that Dyche may have dodged a bullet after what happened to Mejbri in Spain.

In a damning verdict, Sevilla manager Quique Sanchez Flores has told the player he needs to “understand where he is” after dropping him from the squad that took on Atletico Madrid on Thursday (25 January), as quoted by ESPN.

Everton manager Dyche has enough problems on his hands at Goodison Park, with plenty of issues impacting the club both on and off the pitch, and will now be grateful that a deal was not completed for Mejbri given his very early problems in Spain.

Like the Toffees, Sevilla are also in difficulty, with the club remarkably also in 17th place in the table, and also just one point away from the bottom three.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are “huge fans” of one Leicester City star as a late January development emerges.
