Jack Harrison drops 4/10 stinker as Ashley Young returns with 8/10 MOTM showing – Everton player ratings v Fulham

Everton and Fulham battled their way to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night in the Premier League, with Ashley Young the standout performer.

The first-half was an open affair with the Toffees coming closest when a goalmouth scramble saw the ball come off the bar and then cleared off the line, although Raul Jimenez missed a glaring chance late on in the half to put the hosts ahead.

The second half was more of the same with both teams struggling to create clear opportunities, although both sides hit the woodwork and Jordan Pickford made a stunning save late to ensure the points were shared.

Here is how Goodison News rated the performance of each Everton player in the game..

Jordan Pickford – 7/10

The Toffees number one was very good once again as he claimed an eighth clean sheet in 15 games. He commanded his area well, made saves where he needed to and his distribution was good too. A memorable save late on that was worthy of a point on it’s own.

Ben Godfrey – 5/10

Given a rare start out of position at right-back and Godfrey had a tough night up against Willian and Antonee Robinson. Got booked and run ragged defensively for much of the game and offered little going forward. Not a good performance.

James Tarkowski – 7/10

The skipper for the night was brilliant throughout, keeping Fulham limited to minor chances for much of the game and dominant aerially. A top showing.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 7/10

Potentially the best young centre-back in the league, keeping Branthwaite at the club going forward is essential to building and getting back up the Premier League table. Another top showing with some vital interventions in the process.

Vitalii Mykolenko – 7/10

The Ukrainian had little to do as he kept Bobby Decordova-Reid quiet for the majority of the game, but wasn’t able to offer much going forward which meant Everton struggled to create many clear-cut chances.

Ashley Young – 8/10

The veteran returned from injury and played further forward than he usually does these days, but it was a top performance. Helped out Godfrey plenty defensively, was good with his deliveries into the box and never stopped running. One of his best performances this season.

James Garner – 7/10

The only fit central midfielder and he played like he was leading everyone through the game. Excellent with his passing, defensively aware throughout and wasn’t afraid to take a risk to try and get a goal. A bargain at £15m.

Dwight McNeil – 6/10

Sean Dyche’s most trusted soldier was shifted out of position in the absence of key players and he did the job that everyone would have expected him to do. Ran until the very end, did all the sensible things on the ball and was strong defensively.

Jack Harrison – 4/10

The Leeds loanee started his Goodison Park career well but has struggled in recent weeks and is in the team because of a lack of options more than anything else. Another performance where he failed to really make an impact going forward.

Arnaut Danjuma – 5/10

Danjuma is finally getting the run in the team that he craved but he has done nothing to suggest he deserves to keep his place when everyone is fit. Had a big chance that he failed to take in the first half and not much else.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5/10

Another game where the main man couldn’t find the back of the net despite having chances to do so. His overall play wasn’t bad, but it may be time to give Beto a run from the start with the team struggling for goals currently.
