Alan Myers: Everton could complete deal to sign mystery player in next 24 hours
Sky Sports News journalist Alan Myers believes Everton could sign one player on deadline day.
Sean Dyche has unsurprisingly gone the entirety of January without making a single first-team signing.
However, with transfer deadline day on Thursday (1 February), Myers is backing the Blues to bring in one player. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know the identity of the potential mystery arrival.
“Maybe one by tomorrow but don’t know who,” he said on Wednesday (31 January) via his personal X account.
One miracle, please
Dyche has done a fantastic job with Everton but ultimately, the club is in the same position it was at the end of last January – in the relegation zone.
Of course, if you take away that 10-point deduction, we’d be more of a mid-table side but we have to act as though this deduction is set in stone right now.
Is this team strong enough to get back out of the bottom three? Well, it’s done it once already but it’s also dropped back into it and we’ve seen time and time again that a lot of these players simply aren’t good enough.
New signings are needed but are basically impossible to get due to the financial issues plaguing Goodison Park.
If we do complete a signing on deadline day, it had better be for someone who can actually make an impact and be a starter for Dyche because otherwise, what’s the point?
We don’t need more squad players or more stop-gaps, we need star quality to get us out of the relegation zone and keep us well clear of the bottom three in case the Premier League slap us with another points deduction.
Unfortunately, we don’t see that kind of signing happening and we very much expect to go to bed early on Thursday without any business to worry about.
