Everton transfer news as Kingsford Boakye confirmed at Goodison Park

Everton have confirmed the signing of Kingsford Boayke on a two-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison Park, subject to a work permit.

The winger will join up with the Toffees’ under-21 side on Merseyside until the summer of 2026, having joined the ranks at Goodison Park on a free transfer having been without a club, signing his contract on Wednesday (31 January).

Boayke is a product of MSK Zilina Africa from his home country in Ghana, where the 19-year-old learned his trade, before making the big switch to Italy last season when he joined Serie A giants AC Milan, where has operated as both a right and left winger.

Building for the future

It may not be quite as big a deal as most Everton fans were hoping for, but the Toffees have finally made an addition in the January transfer window. Boayke may not be set to make an immediate impact on Sean Dyche’s side but he is certainly a product for the future.

Funds are incredibly restricted at Goodison Park currently and the Toffees cannot be throwing money around recklessly, so they have to make astute moves in the January transfer window and this is exactly the sort of signing they should be aiming for.

Rather than spending millions on a washed-up or past-it winger as they have done in transfer windows gone by under Farhad Moshiri, Everton have tied down a young talent who could have a huge impact on their squad in the not-too-distant future.

Hopefully, Boakye can now kick on and continue his development on Merseyside and if all goes to plan, Everton supporters will see their new signing in senior action sooner rather than later.
