Neal Maupay takes bizarre swipe at James Maddison after Everton loanee involved in Brentford loss v Tottenham
Loaned-out Everton striker Neal Maupay aimed a dig at Tottenham star James Maddison as Brentford lost at Spurs on Wednesday night.
Maupay, 27, scored his fourth Premier League goal of the season as the Bees lost 3-2 away in North London.
After netting, he decided to mock Maddison by copying the England international’s dart celebration.
Even though Brentford lost with Brennan Johnson then doing the same thing back to make fun of Maupay when he scored, the Everton loanee took to Instagram to continue talking about Maddison.
Writing via his personal Instagram account, the French striker said: “Went a bit early with that one.
“Gutted we couldn’t get the win. More goals and less [sic] relegations in my career than James Maddison. We go again Monday, Bees.”
You lost
What’s Maupay playing at?
You decided to mock one of the best midfielders in the Premier League while playing away against his team.
You then lost the game.
And now you’re on Instagram boasting about not being relegated as many times as him, which is just weird behaviour.
Maupay has been a terrible player for Everton and based on his form at Brentford while on loan in West London this season, he’s not been the best for them either by only starting nine times in the Premier League.
Brentford are a team who Everton will be hoping to finish above in the battle against relegation so with the Bees just four points clear of the drop zone, it’s odd to be bragging about not being relegated as often as Maddison.

He’s also compared his goalscoring record – as a striker – to that of a midfielder.
Grow up, Neal.
