Everton could make last-ditch move to sign Maxwel Cornet after West Ham United and Crystal Palace deal breaks down

Everton could reignite their interest in West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet and make a last-ditch move for the player.

That is according to TEAMtalk, with the publication reporting on its website on Thursday (1 February) that the Hammers offered the attacker to Crystal Palace on loan.

But TEAMtalk noted that Eagles manager Roy Hodgson is not interested in a move for the 27-year-old, with other Deadline Day business a priority.

On the move?

It remains to be seen exactly what will happen to Cornet in this transfer window, but for now it seems that a move to Selhurst Park definitely won’t be happening.

A switch to Goodison Park could be on the cards, however, especially if Everton lose fellow forward Arnaut Danjuma in this window.

The Villarreal loanee has been strongly moved with a move away from Merseyside, and his exit could pave the way for Cornet’s arrival.

As per TEAMtalk (1 September 2023), the former Burnley man was offered to Everton last summer, alongside striker Danny Ings.

But the clubs involved are now rapidly running out of time to conduct any deals, which certainly begs the question as to why things are often left so late when it comes to transfer windows.

That said, it may all be talk involving Cornet, even if he has been given the cold shoulder by David Moyes this season.

Everton

The Hammers manager does, of course, have strong ties to Everton, and his history there could work in the latter’s favour if they do want to strike a last-ditch deal for the winger on Deadline Day.
