Everton must sever all ties with Neal Maupay after more controversy at Brentford
Everton must now be quick to sever all ties with Neal Maupay after yet another controversial moment for Brentford against Manchester City on Monday (6 February).
The Toffees loanee was once again at the centre of a controversy against the Premier League champions after becoming embroiled in a heated spat with Kyle Walker at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Just a week on from the furore surrounding his darts goal celebration at Tottenham, mocking James Maddison in their Premier League clash, Maupay left Walker enraged with a comment towards the end of their 3-1 loss.
The England international was calmed down by Pep Guardiola and match officials after the pair had exchanged words and the Man City boss declined to discuss the incident afterwards.
In a new revelation by the Daily Mail (6 February), it is alleged that Maupay made reference to Walkers’ children according to a lip reader expert and the England international following his recent personal issues away from football.
99 Everton problems already at Goodison Park
Maupay has never been far from criticism since his move to Everton in August 2022 with the striker often going into hiding in games which ultimately led to Dyche binning him on loan back to his old club in West London.
The Frenchman has done reasonably well at the Bees since then, bagging five goals and three assists in 17 games in the Premier League but his same problems at Everton still persist for Thomas Frank’s men.
Maupay is clearly keen to rile his opponents as much as possible, and that certainly worked at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Maddison not happy at all that the Brentford man copied his celebration.
The former Brighton man just cannot seem to get himself away from trouble – the latest being a really serious allegation that he mocked Walker’s family situation.
Everton simply do not need more trouble coming their way at Goodison Park with the club embroiled in a PSR breach and war with the Premier League that has seen them be deducted 10 points and they could yet face more punishment.

Maupay is still an employee at the club following his loan spell at Brentford which means he still represents the Blues whatever he does in West London and this new controversy certainly does not do Everton any favours given they already have 99 problems at their door right now.
It’s uncertain to predict what his future beyond this season holds but Everton will be hoping to get a fair few million pounds for his services next summer. However, given what’s happened this week, the club must be looking to sever all ties with him ASAP.
