Everton stance on Amadou Onana shared as £50m+ Arsenal summer transfer claim made

Arsenal could sign Amadou Onana in a “bargain deal” in the summer transfer window should Everton be relegated, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist shared via his Daily Briefing column [6 February] that Arsenal did not make a bid for Onana in January, despite intense speculation.

However, the Gunners are said to have “genuine admiration” for the Belgium international and may make an approach at the end of the season.

Everton are said to be remaining firm on their £50million valuation, but a deal with Arsenal “may be possible” if they drop out of the top flight.

Uncertainty remains at Goodison Park

Everton did well to keep their squad intact during the January transfer window amid all the ongoing off-the-field uncertainty at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are not in desperate need of cash at this stage, and hopefully that will remain the case should this 777 takeover finally go through.

However, supporters must acknowledge that relegation is still a real possibility at this stage, and that could massively force the club’s hand.

Everton

It is not unreasonable to suggest that the likes of Onana, Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford will be the first to depart if Everton do go down.

If that is the case – and this is a worst-case scenario, of course – then the Toffees must ensure they stand firm on their valuations regardless.

Hopefully none of that matters, though, and instead the club will hope to add to what they already have in what should be a brighter future.
