Everton v Manchester City injury news: Doctor shares Abdoulaye Doucoure update

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is dealing with a hamstring strain and also a thigh injury ahead of the Manchester City clash, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert shares that he may have to undergo a late fitness test in order to be involved in the game on Saturday, 10 February.

He missed nearly a month between December and January with a hamstring injury and then after playing the 90 minutes against Aston Villa on 14 January, picked up a thigh setback.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison NewsBrar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Doucoure:

This sounds like he previously had a Grade 2 hamstring strain and he’s also got a thigh injury.

The key to reducing reinjury risk is a methodical rehab and building up match fitness through bounce games.

For the weekend, he’ll perhaps need to undergo a fitness test.

However, that will also depend on how he’s been training throughout the week so there is always the chance of him not being fit.

Race against time

Sean Dyche will already be without Arnaut Danjuma, Dele Alli and Andre Gomes for the game and several other players are fitness doubts as well.

Along with Doucoure, Ben Godfrey and Amadou Onana are also at risk of missing the game due to injury.

The Toffees find themselves in a serious relegation battle and Dyche will be hoping he’s got a good bunch of players fit for the rest of the season.

In other Everton news, the Toffees’ transfer deal to sign an in-form player in January would have included a £7m option to buy.
