Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour rage at Manchester City in ‘frustrated’ Everton FFP verdict

Everton supporters must be “frustrated” by their charges for breaches of profit and sustainability rules while Manchester City remain unpunished according to Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour.

Sean Dyche has revealed that he is often stopped by supporters to ask why the Toffees were deducted 10 points for their initial charge, while Manchester City remain under investigation for over 100 charges [Liverpool Echo, 9 February].

Supporters at Goodison Park have made their feelings known towards the Premier League with protests in recent weeks, but Brazil has admitted that he finds the entire situation at Goodison Park frustrating.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (9 February, 6:25) he said: “If you’re an Everton fan you’ve got to be frustrated and Newcastle could be in trouble as well.”

Parlour quickly agreed saying: “You look at it and I saw the banners going up against Spurs, totally right. There’s another club in the same division who have got all these charges against them and they keep rumbling on and suddenly Everton have been done straight away.”

Brazil replied: “Every time I ask people who are meant to be in the know, they say it’s a lot more complex than we know, well go on then, how complex?”

Parlour then said: “We don’t know the ins and outs of it and to be fair to Everton they held their hands up and that’s what happened.”

Everton punishment rankles more as Manchester City verdict drags on

It speaks volumes that ahead of the showdown between Dyche’s Toffees and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday (10 February), one team is languishing in the relegation zone and the other could move top of the league.

That is despite the fact both teams have been charged with breaches of profit and sustainability rules, however, only Dyche’s side have been punished with a points deduction.

Something needs to change sooner rather than later as it is not fair that some teams are being punished while others can continue scot-free. Hopefully, City will receive some punishment before Everton receive any further punishment.

Hopefully, the Toffees can pull off an upset at the Etihad on Saturday to at least ease the feeling of frustration currently at Goodison Park.
