Premier League chief Richard Masters speaks out on Everton charges
The Esk has raised a couple of important questions in the aftermath of Richard Masters speaking out on the points deduction handed to Everton.
Premier League chief-executive Masters said on Friday (9 February) that key evidence linked to the deduction will not be published.
Masters also defended the independent panel commission that heard Everton’s case as part of a three-page letter shared by the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
However, in response to the letter, Everton financial expert The Esk posted on Twitter [9 February]: “So the Premier League submitted what it thought was the appropriate sanction to the Commission & the club 2 months before the hearing.
“So what was the purpose of the independent hearing, & how could the PL judge what was an appropriate sanction before Everton presented its case?”
Everton hit with record points deduction
As all Everton supporters are aware, this whole situation has been a farce right from the start.
Masters has dug himself a massive hole and just cannot seem to be able to escape it, with this letter providing more questions than answers.
The Toffees were basically found guilty, with their punishment set, before being able to defend themselves.
The 10-point deduction passed down is an English top-flight record, while a second PSR breach punishment also potentially awaits.

Masters also moved to explain his ‘small club’ comment with regards to Everton, but nobody will buy a word of it.
This is an incredibly frustrating situation and there has been very little clarity. The fact the evidence will not be made public does not help.
All fans can do it continue their various protests against the Premier League as we await to hear back on the appeal verdict.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have been namechecked as a Premier League club is reportedly planning legal action.
