Everton appeal news may drop before Crystal Palace clash in Premier League
Everton may learn the outcome of their appeal against the Premier League in big news before they face Crystal Palace on 19 February, according to Joe Thomas.
The Liverpool Echo journalist shared via his X account on 10 February that, having been undone by Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, the Toffees now have big news to look ahead to.
He claimed it would be a big game when Crystal Palace visit Goodison Park, with the Eagles possibly finding themselves dragged into the relegation battle, but the appeal update could come before then.
Everton will learn Premier League appeal verdict
Having been dealt a harsh ten-point deduction for their breach of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, Everton immediately made their feelings clear with an appeal to get that punishment either removed or reduced.
That appeal was heard at the start of the month, and it is expected we will hear the outcome in the middle of February, with that date likely to fall in the nine days between now and when Palace travel to Goodison Park.
If the Toffees get what they have demanded, and expect, as a result of the appeal in the result of a reduction on their points deduction, it could be huge in the context of their season as they sit just one point behind Luton in the relegation zone.
The upcoming clash against Palace is equally as important, with the Eagles sitting just five points ahead of Sean Dyche’s side, albeit with a game in hand, so a victory in that game and a reduction of their points penalty could see Everton leapfrog their opponents.
