Everton: £100m Jarrad Branthwaite transfer update shared by Luke Edwards
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is being personally watched by Europe’s elite clubs, according to journalist Luke Edwards.
In an article for The Telegraph’s online edition [11 February], Edwards added that Everton have placed a £100million price tag on the centre-back.
Branthwaite has previously been touted as a target for Manchester United [ESPN, 19 January], while others are also seemingly now interested.
The report read: “Telegraph Sport understands he will be one of the most coveted defensive players in Europe when the transfer window opens in the summer.
“All of the big clubs have scouted him this season and most have been impressed.
“Everton will be reluctant sellers and an asking price of around £100million was being floated around football circles in the January window.”
Everton in no hurry to sell Jarrad Branthwaite
Everton are fully aware of the talent they have on their hands in Branthwaite. They are also aware that there will inevitably be interest from elsewhere.
The bottom line is that the English youngster is under contract at Goodison Park until June 2027, having only recently penned a new long-term deal.
For all the club’s well-documented financial problems, they are not in a position right now where they have to sell players.

That is why the £100m valuation is a fair one. A player is only worth as much as a buying club is willing to pay, so if Man United or anyone else have a genuine interest, they need to cough up that sum.
Branthwaite will be disappointed at the manner of Manchester City’s two goals on Saturday (10 February), but even in that defeat he still stood out.
The inevitable truth is that Branthwaite will not be at Everton forever, but let’s hope we get another few years of service out of him yet.
