Alan Stubbs orders Sky Sports to end anti-Everton bias with MNF invite for politician
Alan Stubbs has ordered Sky Sports to end their anti-Everton bias on the Monday Night Football show and invite Greater Manchester Mayor Burnham to discuss the issues at Goodison Park.
Everton were hit with a 10-point deduction sanction – a record in English top-flight history – three months ago, contributing to them now being in the relegation zone.
The Toffees immediately appealed the decision, and have since been charged a second time for further breaches along with Nottingham Forest.
Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show have since had West Ham striker Michail Antonio and former Chelsea goalkeeper and backroom chief Petr Chech live on air.
And Stubbs taking to his personal X account (13 February) demanded that Sky Sports become fair and transparent by inviting Burnham to discuss the ongoing issues at Goodison Park.
He wrote: “To clear things up and show that Sky Sports are fair and transparent, don’t you think they should invite Andy Burnham onto Monday Night Football to discuss Everton.”
Everton fans desperate for transparency – Sky Sports must answer demands
Much has been said and written about the points deduction from fans and pundits but still, the Everton faithful would like some transparency from those close to the proceedings.
Burnham has since come out and stated that there has been little coverage of the points deduction at Goodison Park so why can’t Sky Sports make the call to him to feature a bit on Monday Night Football just like they’ve done with other clubs across the country?
The point Burnham made is that the mainstream media are scared about calling out the Premier League due to their partnerships with the organisation.
Former Chelsea keeper Cech went on air on Monday night (12 February) to discuss the ongoing matters behind the scenes at Chelsea providing fans with a first-hand experience of what’s going on.
Everton fans certainly want the same thing, especially with the appeal verdict desperately being anticipated and also the club’s takeover still waiting for approval from the Premier League and FA while Manchester United have already received their own (13 February).
The fans have been protesting loudly and pushing for change, while most of the football world was absolutely stunned by the verdict at the time so wouldn’t Sky Sports get some huge views if they were to get Burnham on one of the shows to discuss what’s going on?
While all the uncertainty is rambling on at Goodison Park, fans just want some clarity over decisions but it seems as if the bias against Everton is continuing from the media and the Premier League.
