Amadou Onana sister reveals Everton exit decision amid Goodison speculation, talks held
Everton star Amadou Onana chose to stay at Goodison Park in the winter transfer window, according to his sister and agent Melissa Onana.
The agent has explained that she held talks with the 22-year-old midfielder last month about a potential exit from the Toffees.
Everton were braced for offers for the Belgian international in the closing stages of the recent window [TEAMtalk, 25 January].
“We could have left this winter, but we once again sat down and asked the question whether it’s the right time, if the player is ready,” Melissa Onana told journalist Sacha Tavolieri on his YouTube show Noyau Dur, as quoted by Sport Witness (13 February).
“My job is to put opportunities on the table. In the end, he’s the one who makes the choice because it’s his life and his career. I put the opportunities on the table and he said ‘No, I want to stay at Everton and I want to continue to fight’.”
Everton need Onana
Everton definitely need Onana, with the midfielder a key player for Sean Dyche amid the worrying situation the club finds itself in.
Not only do they need top talents like the Belgian, but they simply need as many men as possible, with injuries and suspensions currently playing a major role in their fight for survival.
Onana has seemingly been linked with a Goodison Park exit for some time now, but he has remained loyal to the Toffees, although his club may be slightly worried about his on-field antics.
The situation will undoubtedly be reviewed in the summer, but for now he should be 100% focused on helping Everton avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit currently occupy 18th place in the table, and are on a very troubling run at this moment in time, with a 2-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday (10 February) the latest blow.

Dyche will be desperate to stop the rut when his side host fellow strugglers Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday (19 February).
In other Everton news, Dyche can be proud despite the loss to Manchester City as a double statistic emerges from the 2-0 defeat.
