Everton: Andy Burnham spotted at Goodison Park in Crystal Palace draw

Mayor of Greater Manchester, and lifelong Everton fan, Andy Burnham was spotted amongst the fans as the Toffees drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Monday 19 February.

Amadou Onana scored a late equaliser to send Goodison Park wild, especially the Gwladys Street End where the politician stood throughout the match.

Everton climbed out of the relegation zone, having claimed a point against the Eagles, going above Luton Town on goal difference.

Writing for Liverpool Echo on Tuesday (20 February), Chris Beesley said: “Mayor of Greater Manchester and True Blue Andy Burnham was spotted going back to his roots behind the goal in the Gwladys Street with Everton’s most-vociferous supporters.

“It’s unclear whether the politician joined in with any raucous pile-ons with fellow fans after he was given a close-up view of Onana’s equaliser but Burnham was filmed in his spec by Sky Sports’ cameras before kick-off.”

Andy Burnham bleeds blue blood for Everton

Burnham has been extremely vocal about the club’s recent altercations with FFP and the Premier League, stating that he “won’t forget” the lack of media attention given to the ongoing situation at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are in desperate need of those loud, important voices to fight for the little man at the club, with the date set for a second charge coming their way.

The verdict on Everton’s initial 10-point deduction is said to be imminent, with some suggesting that the club could be given some of their points back if their appeal is successful.
