Everton: Jamie Carragher shares new 777 Partners takeover verdict live on Sky Sports
Everton are unlikely to see their takeover by 777 Partners approved by the Premier League to add to the recent problems at Goodison Park, according to Jamie Carragher.
The Toffees managed to move out of the Premier League relegation zone with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday (19 February) thanks to Amadou Onana’s late header at Goodison Park.
However, there is still plenty of uncertainty around Merseyside as supporters wait to learn whether American investment firm 777 Partners will be allowed to complete their takeover and after 22 weeks of waiting, Carragher isn’t confident they’ll be given the green light.
Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday (19 February, 18:56) he said: “There’s another problem in that they are basically being funded and propped up right now by the group 777 and they want to take over the club.
“The Premier League have not yet passed them as fit and proper owners. This should normally take between eight and 12 weeks, we’re now 22 weeks in so I think the chances of them being passed as fit and proper owners for Everton Football Club, I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
Will 777 Partners complete their Everton takeover?
Everton supporters must be sick and tired of waiting for the Premier League to come to a decision surrounding 777 Partners, especially as it seems fairly obvious the American firm are not fit and proper suitors to acquire the Toffees.
As Carragher suggested, this process should take at most three months, so the fact that the Premier League have not reached a decision after 22 weeks shows that they have some reservations over 777’s suitability.

With suggestions emerging that Sean Dyche’s side will learn the fate of their appeal against profit and sustainability breaches in the coming days, hopefully, a decision regarding the takeover won’t be too far behind.
Until then, the Toffees will have to continue to focus on matters on the pitch and do what they can to ensure that they aren’t dragged back into the relegation zone in the coming weeks and months.
