Everton: Michael Ball destroys Sean Dyche in ‘brain-dead’ verdict after Crystal Palace defeat

Everton manager Sean Dyche and his side have been slammed by Michael Ball for their “brain-dead decision-making” following their defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Toffees managed to climb out of the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Monday (19 February) however their slow performance saw Dyche’s side receive plenty of criticism from fans and pundits alike.

While off-the-field issues have dominated the conversation around the Toffees this season, BBC Sport pundit Ball has been left enraged by Everton’s poor performances at home, suggesting time is running out for Dyche to turn the tide at Goodison.

Writing for the Liverpool Echo on Tuesday (20 February) he said: “I feel harsh saying it but there was some brain-dead decision-making. It takes us a minute at times to take a throw-in, we’re trying to win a game, what are you doing?

“We’re going into March with just three Premier League wins at Goodison so far this season – that’s a bad stat. That shows that whatever Dyche and the players are trying to do, it’s not working. You can talk about missed opportunities and being unlucky but how long can you keep trotting that out?

“It was a negative set-up though, playing Ashley Young on the right wing. I’m fine with him being used in that area away to Manchester City – it makes sense – but at home to Palace?”

Will Everton get relegated under Sean Dyche this season?

Everton were presented with the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways against Palace on Monday as the Eagles had been struggling for form in recent weeks and their new manager was made to watch on from the stands.

However, the Toffees never looked particularly at ease in the contest, repeatedly just lumping the ball up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and hoping it would stick with very little success.

Sean Dyche is looking to keep Everton in the Premier League.

Amadou Onana’s late header ensured that it wasn’t a complete embarrassment for the Toffees, but at the moment, it feels as though Dyche’s side are just coasting towards relegation and doing very little to try and stop it.

Time is running out for Everton to get their season back on track and if they want to be playing Premier League football next season, they simply have to start winning more matches, especially at Goodison Park.
