Everton: Phil McNulty shares 777 Partners concern at Goodison as Premier League admission made

There is clearly an “awful lot to work through” with the Premier League before the 777 Partners takeover can be completed at Everton, according to Phil McNulty.

Asked in his Q&A on the BBC Sport website on Monday (19 February, 03:00pm) why the American investment firm’s takeover is taking so long compared to the Sir Jim Ratcliffe deal at Manchester United, he said the league still need convincing that the group is fit to take over at Goodison Park.

He added that he would share some of those “concerns” given 777’s “chequered track record” as he believes the company will have a lot to do to win over the Toffees’ fans even if the deal does get the go-ahead.

“There is clearly an awful lot to work through with 777 and I would share some of those concerns given their chequered track record,” said McNulty. “Even if it gets the go-ahead, they’ll have a lot to do to win over many Everton fans.

“The Premier League still clearly need convincing they are fit to take over whereas Sir Jim Ratcliffe was pretty much an open-and-shut case.”

Everton fans deserve clarity on 777 Partners deal

There is so much uncertainty hanging over Everton at the moment as the 777 takeover remains up in the air and they don’t know yet what’s happening with their points deduction appeal.

While this mess has largely been created by those people in charge of running the club over the past few years, the fans are the innocent party in this and they deserve answers.

There is no reason why the appeal has been drawn out for so long and it’s clear that there are major concerns about whether or not the group are fit to take over at Goodison.

The fact of the matter is, though, that the Toffees need investment soon and they are already at the mercy of 777 after taking out huge loans with the company.

There needs to be some clarity provided on both of those situations soon so the club can, hopefully, start to move forward and plan for a brighter future in the Premier League.
