Everton: Andy Burnham hits out at ‘unforgivable’ Premier League in brand new appeal rant

Andy Burnham has hit out at the Premier League yet again in another rant about the points-deduction appeal at Everton, insisting they are killing the club.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester shared his view via his X account [20 February], asking how the Premier League can justify the lack of clarity surrounding the situation at Goodison Park.

Burnham went on to claim that this season has been ruined by the points deductions and appeal process, creating uncertainty and shrouding the team in protest.

He wrote on X: “How can the Premier League justify what they are doing to Everton Football Club? Another week is slipping by and we don’t know what is happening. They are killing us.

“As a season ticket holder, I feel the Premier League have ruined this season for us and all clubs given the uncertainty they have created. And they are shrouding Goodison in protest when we should be celebrating the last grand old stage of Engish football. Unforgivable.”

Everton points deduction appeal result still not heard

It was initially expected that the club would hear the result of their appeal before the clash with Crystal Palace. That timeframe was then pushed back to after the game. Now, two days on, there is still no clarity.

The lack of communication from the Premier League is the biggest issue at hand here. If there was some transparency, it would stop the clamour for answers and encourage patience.

However, as things stand, no communication has taken place. This has led to outrage not just from Evertonians but neutrals too, as everybody wants and expects answers.

It’s not just Everton affected by this issue either. All the clubs in the relegation battle will be aware of the situation, knowing that any points taken off or given back will likely decide who is playing Premier League football next season.

In other Everton news, Simon Jordan has claimed the second charge could be larger.
