Everton: David Ornstein shares 777 Partners takeover update at Goodison Park

David Ornstein has urged patience from Everton amid the ongoing 777 Partners takeover checks, despite the frustration at the time taken for a verdict.

The Athletic journalist shared that the Premier League remain unsatisfied with the takeover and the group, although both 777 and Everton remain optimistic.

No timescale has been set for the verdict to be given, but frustrations have been amplified by the Manchester United partial takeover by Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

Writing via The Athletic Q&A [22 February], Ornstein reported: “There is definite frustration, especially when the INEOS/Manchester United process started after 777/Everton and yet has been completed earlier.

“But the two cases are patently very different and therefore more patience is required.

“Clearly, this has now gone way beyond the anticipated timescale and so evidently the Premier League is not yet fully satisfied.

“There has always been optimism at Everton and 777 that this will eventually go through but, at the time of writing, I don’t know of an outcome or a date when there will be one.”

Not only are frustrations beginning to be made clear at 777, but the Everton supporters are also becoming tired of the drawn-out process and time the takeover is taking.

The Premier League’s CEO, Richard Masters, previously suggested that it had been delayed as a result of the group failing to provide relevant documents when asked, placing the blame at their feet.

These delays have come amid rising concerns about the eligibility of 777 to own Everton, with author Martin Calladine going as far as to suggest the takeover could destroy the club due to their mismanagement.

Josh Wander and 777 Partners’ wait to complete the takeover of Everton goes on.

Simon Jordan recently spoke out against the takeover, insisting that fans should be worried if they are taken over by 777 Partners, as they will be thrown out of the frying pan and into the fire.

With frustrations beginning to boil over, and the list of concerns growing ever-longer, the story of the 777 Partners takeover at Goodison Park feels like it will never end at this stage.
