Everton fan mocked as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah made out to be at fault for financial issues
Ste Hoare has mocked an Everton fan for bringing up Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah while defending the club’s spending.
Bob Baker, who claims to be a season ticket holder at Goodison Park, has mentioned the salary of the Egyptian at Anfield as the Toffees wait to hear back from the Premier League with regards to their appeal against the ten point deduction.
He states that what he earns equates to £20million – an amount slightly higher than what Everton have overspent – shows that the Premier League are biased towards the Blues.
Hoare, the Head of Operations at Redmen TV, wrote on Twitter: “Everton’s overspending is now Mohamed Salah’s fault…”
Not the way to prove a bias against Everton
While Everton’s recent points deduction has sparked controversy and accusations of unfair treatment, equating it to Salah’s salary overlooks the fundamental differences between individual player contracts and club financial regulations.
Salah’s wages are determined by negotiations between the player, his representatives and Liverpool, reflecting his market value and contribution to the team.
On the other hand, Everton’s points deduction stems from a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, which are designed to ensure financial stability and fair competition among clubs.
Using Salah’s salary as a point of comparison oversimplifies the complexities of club finances and regulatory compliance and it’s unlikely to effectively address Everton’s concerns about perceived bias.
Instead, focusing on the specific circumstances of the points deduction and advocating for a fair and transparent appeals process would be a more constructive approach.
Finance experts have also taken digs at the Toffees’ predicament and Farhad Moshiri has a crucial role to play in it, not Salah.
