Everton takeover: Alan Myers details expectation of 777 Partners announcement on Thursday

Everton are unlikely to hear any sort of announcement about their 777 Partners takeover on Thursday, according to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers.

The Miami-based firm agreed to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the Toffees way back in September but the deal has been beset with difficulties and has yet to receive Premier League approval.

On Wednesday (21 February), the Liverpool Echo reported that 777 are losing hope that a decision on their proposed takeover will be made before the end of February.

Myers was asked on X how he was feeling today, to which he replied: “I’m good thanks, lots of feelings but very few expectations of an announcement of any kind but let’s see!”

When will the Premier League make a decision on Everton 777 takeover?

At this juncture it appears to be anyone’s guess as to when Everton will have an answer on their proposed takeover by American firm 777 Partners and there is seemingly no end in sight to the constant uncertainty.

It is a double-edged sword on this one. On the one hand, of course there has to be due diligence and the constant noises of issues at 777’s other group of clubs they own across the globe of course raises fears.

Josh Wander, one of the co-founders of 777 Partners who want to buy Everton
Dan Friedkin has succeeded where Josh Wander and 777 failed at Everton.

But the longer the process takes the longer Everton’s precarious financial position is hanging over their heads and if the 777 takeover falls through they need to be able to try and find a new buyer elsewhere.

One thing seems certain, though, and that is that an announcement is not expected any time soon. The hope was that by the end of this month there would be a decision one way or another but the chances of that happening are quite slim.
