Everton: Ex-Arsenal chief David Dein in calls to Premier League over 777 Partners takeover

Former Arsenal chief David Dein has been making regular calls to the Premier League over the status of 777 Partners’ takeover of Everton, according to The Athletic.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (23 February) that Dein, who tipped Farhad Moshiri to take over at Goodison Park has remained in contact with the Premier League to understand why 777’s approval process is taking so long.

777 Partners’ takeover has now entered its 23rd week of the supposed 12-week approval process, with no indication from the Premier League that a decision will be announced soon, despite Dein’s regular calls to those in charge of England’s top flight.

Dein’s interest in the takeover stems from his relationship with Sir Philip Carter when he and the former Toffees chief worked together to create the Premier League.

When will 777 Partners complete its Everton takeover?

Everton supporters must be sick and tired of hearing nothing from the Premier League about 777’s takeover, especially as they continue to be left in the dark over their appeal against their 10-point deduction for PSR breaches.

It feels like the Premier League is fighting against the Toffees at the moment, a thought shared by most supporters inside Goodison Park in recent weeks who have made their feelings known and seen through various protests.

Dan Friedkin has succeeded where Josh Wander and 777 failed at Everton.

Whether or not Dein’s constant questioning will help moves things along, it is positive to see that those with power in the game are asking questions of the Premier League, with the likes of Jamie Carragher and Jim White voicing their concerns.

Hopefully, this added pressure will finally see supporters get the answers they have been looking for as it is ridiculous this takeover has been able to rumble on for so long without any real answers emerging from either side.
