Everton in hunt to sign Festy Ebosele after ‘superstar’ prediction by ex-Goodison star Wayne Rooney

Everton are one of the clubs in the hunt to sign Udinese star Festy Ebosele during the summer transfer window, according to HITC.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (23 February) that a number of English clubs have watched the 21-year-old this season with Tottenham, West Ham United, Leeds United and Southampton all joining the Toffees in holding an interest.

Ebosle, who primarily plays as a right-back has impressed in Serie A having initially broken through at Derby County under former Toffee Wayne Rooney, who was quoted by Derbyshire Live (21 March, 2022) saying: “I said a few months ago he can be a superstar, he can be what he wants.

“He really needs to keep his focus, his concentration, and keep learning to develop.”

Can Everton win the transfer race for Festy Ebosele?

There is so much uncertainty around Goodison Park currently that could seemingly stand in the Toffees’ way as they look to beat their English rivals to the signing of Ebosele this summer.

Sean Dyche’s side still don’t know what league they will be playing their football in as they remain in the midst of a relegation battle where they could be set to face a second points deduction for profit and sustainability charges.

On top of that, the Premier League still haven’t approved 777 Partners’ takeover of the club and it seems unlikely that Farhad Moshiri would be willing to pump more cash into the football club to secure the signing of a player like Ebosele.

However, a lot could change before the end of the season and Everton may well be able to get this sort of exciting signing over the line. Their squad needs one or two more superstars and Ebosele would be exactly that.
