Premier League slammed over ‘draconian’ Everton situation, it’s ‘unfair’

Henry Winter has called for the Premier League to get their act together as Everton fans continue to wait on the verdict of an appeal against a 10-point deduction.

The Toffees are still awaiting the result of their challenge against the punishment handed to the club after being found guilty of flouting Profit and Sustainability rules.

With Sean Dyche’s side dangling above the relegation zone, just one point ahead of Luton Town with one more game played, fans are desperate to learn the outcome of the appeal.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Sunday (25 February, 9:58am), Winter said: “Until the Premier League get their act together and the independent panel actually rule on what the punishment for Everton truly is…

“At the time, most people thought it would be six points [deduction] and the 10 points was a bit draconian, the issue with Forest – it’s very confusing.

“I think it’s very unfair and it’s slightly casting a shadow over the whole league. There is just confusion down the bottom.”

The date and time of when the findings from the independent panel will be published has been very wishy-washy, with fans expecting to hear the verdict way before the end of February.

Yet, there is still no sign of these appeal findings, which leaves the Toffees in a very sticky situation. Without the 10-point deduction, Everton would be challenging for a top-half finish.

Although their run of results in recent weeks has been quite disappointing, the pressure and worries could be getting to some of the players, which would not be there if the deduction was taken away.

Many clubs seem to be struggling this season, including Nottingham Forest, who are also at risk of receiving a punishment due to a charge for a PSR breach.

Everton supporters will be desperate for a takeover to go through at Goodison Park

However, the Goodison Park faithful will be hoping to avoid any more threat of relegation after battling at the bottom of the table for the third successive season.

Before a conclusion is reached about the club’s appeal, Everton could currently be anywhere in the Premier League table, which is certainly having an effect on the club as a whole.
