Everton: Alan Myers issues points deduction claim as Goodison Park appeal news emerges

Alan Myers has issued an update on the second Premier League charge handed to Everton for breaching financial fair play rules.

It comes after the Toffees had their 10-point deduction for such breaches reduced to six points on Monday (26 February), as per BBC Sport.

The reduction follows a successful appeal from the Goodison Park club, although they face another possible sanction after they were charged with breaching the rules for a second time earlier this month.

“Everton have been given 4 points back by an independent commission following a 10pt deduction for breaching P&S rules,” Sky Sports journalist Myers wrote on X.

He was then asked the question “Then hit us with 4 for the 2nd charge you think Al?” Myers responded: “Who knows, but that will begin now.”

Everton fans can breathe a sigh of relief after appeal verdict

Toffees supporters were in the dark over what was going to happen to their club regarding the first points deduction, which saw them shoot right down the Premier League table.

A strong run immediately after the 10-point sanction brought them back up the standings, but things haven’t gone their way since, with many poor results dragging them back into a relegation battle.

However, the change from 10 points to six points pushes the Goodison Park club up from 17th to 15th in the Premier League table.

That decision will be warmly welcomed by the blue half of Merseyside, but there is, of course, the very real threat of further points being deducted given how they have a second charge hanging over them.

In more positive news for the Toffees, Nottingham Forest were also charged at the same time, with Forest among the clubs involved in a relegation battle alongside Everton.
