Everton points deduction reduced in Premier League – David Ornstein

An independent panel has reduced the 10-point deduction handed to Everton by the Premier League, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist reported [26 February] that the Toffees’ 10-point deduction has been reduced to six after the club was charged with a Profit and Sustainability breach from the 2021/22 season.

It is understood that a second charge hearing is still to come at Goodison Park, but for now, Everton will be bumped up to 15th in the Premier League.

Everton claim back valuable points from the Premier League

Everton fans have finally been given the news that so many have been patiently waiting to hear after multiple reported deadlines were not met.

With the club battling relegation for the third successive season, this update will come as a huge relief to those at Goodison Park. Luton Town have been breathing down Everton’s neck since the 10-point deduction was activated, but that will no longer be the case.

Many of the Toffees’ performances have not been up to scratch, but a lot of that could come down to the stress and worries that this process has caused players, staff and fans alike.

The independent board has taken far too long to come to the decision, but at least it is a positive one after all this time.

Everton boss Sean Dyche
Sean Dyche’s Everton side have faced plenty of challenges both on and off the pitch this season.

Sean Dyche and his team can now focus on working towards the top half of the table, with just 11 points separating them from West Ham United in 10th.

While it may not seem like a big difference, the pressure at Goodison Park has been immense and that pressure has only increased with each negative result.
