Everton shareholder shares instant appeal reaction after Premier League news
Everton shareholder Mike Parry has shared his instant reaction to the news that the club’s 10-point deduction has been reduced to six.
The Premier League and Everton announced the outcome of the appeals verdict on Monday afternoon (26 February).
As a result of having four points reinstated, Everton move five points clear of the relegation zone with 12 games to play.
Posting on his personal Twitter page [26 February] shortly after the announcement, Parry said: “This is a fantastic result and just reward to all those at Everton who have been working tirelessly to overturn the injustice of the 10 pts deduction.
“I don’t think we should have been punished at all but getting 4 valuable points back is a tremendous boost for our mighty club.”
Everton facing second possible PSR punishment
Everton fans finally have some clarity. After three months of fallout from the initial punishment, it has now finally been agreed that the Premier League were harsh with their decision.
While it would have been nice to have the full 10 points restored, having four back makes an almighty difference to the Premier League table.
It is now over to Sean Dyche and his players to ensure that fairly healthy buffer remains and that we do not get dragged right back into the bottom three.
There is still the small matter of the second PSR charge, which both Everton and Nottingham Forest are bracing themselves for.
Should that come to anything and an appeal be lodged, it will not be finalised until a week after the Premier League season ends.
Clarity of sorts for the Toffees, then, but there could yet be a few more twists and turns in this bizarre campaign. And that is not even to mention the whole takeover saga.
In other Everton news, Ian Wright has called for fans to ask questions if a certain development does not happen next month.
